Xinyu Guan is a first-year PhD candidate in Anthropology at Cornell University. His research interests are in post-socialist urban transformations and public versus private space in China, but more broadly the history of the development of capitalism as mediated through urban spatial forms, especially in non-Euro-American settings. He holds a Master's in Urban Studies from University College London.
